The divots are located from the bottom of the upper tubes to the top of the highest bushing in the lower legs. When the fork compresses, the divots capture lower leg oil and then shuttle it to above the lower and upper bushings before depositing it. This process keeps the bushings consistently lubricated, which reduces friction and increases lifespan.
