Specialized developed the GENIE technology to offer riders a Goldilocks experience on their bikes: the initial 70% of travel allows the rider to charge into rough terrain with the rear wheel tracking the ground, while the last 30% builds progressively to control bottom-out, giving the rider confidence on bigger hits. The standard Super Deluxe uses two different systems to achieve a similar outcome: a bottom-out jounce bumper with a cupped bottom-out plate, and Hydraulic Bottom Out (HBO). The GENIE system, however, is proprietary & optimized to Specialized bikes.
